ABOUT ME
ABOUT ME
My name is Jade Thornton, and I am an artist currently working out of Alpharetta, GA. I was born in Atlanta and have lived in the Chattahoochee Valley area for most of my life. I have a B.F.A. with a focus in animation from Columbus State University. I've loved to draw since I was a small child; doodles of eyes and flowers dot the margins of the notes I took in school and I've definitely gotten in trouble for drawing in class.
Much of the influences in my work can be attributed to growing up playing video games. To be able to explore worlds so unlike my own and be a part of their story have left a lifelong impact on myself and my work. To take control of the protagonist gave me an insight into their psyche, which made it all the more personal. These themes of fantasy and exploration of human feelings and emotions are ideas I've tried incorporating into my work. My biggest dream since I was a child was to create my own game with a world of my own.
I am primarily a digital artist - it's comfortable while also allowing me to find new ways to bring my art to life. While I love to draw, my time spent studying art in school helped me appreciate graphic design and its place in marketing and communication. I was able to draw and do design work during my time as Layout Editor for CSU's student newspaper The Saber (currently known as The Uproar). Working there gave me valuable experience in working with a creative team and understanding the importance of media in journalism.
Currently I am doing freelance art while looking to move somewhere new and make changes in my career path.
